The North Pole Festival

A winter treat for all ages, The North Pole Festival at Parkers Piece is home to a host of awesome activities that will get you in the festive spirit. The sky wheel promises revellers breath-taking views of Cambridge, while the outdoor ice rink presents an opportunity to laugh your way through some thrills and spills!

There is a children’s zone for the young ones, family fun fair rides, extreme rides for those of a brave disposition, and the Alpine Lodge provides a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle. The annual event, which runs into the new year, prides itself on delivering a relaxed festival environment where visitors can enjoy the most magical weeks in the calendar.

When your tummy starts rumbling, the festival has got you covered – give your taste buds a treat at the authentic German Swing Grill, or head over to the crepes area when the sweet tooth cravings begin.

Festival-goers will also have the chance to pout and pose for a special souvenir photograph and reminisce about what promises to be a memorable event.

He knows if you’ve been naughty, he knows if you’ve been nice. The man himself, Santa Claus, is on his way back to Cambridge to meet the city’s little ones and find out what exactly they would like for Christmas this year. So why not pay him a visit and be enchanted by his wonderland. For the children, it’s a dream come true, and for the grown-ups, it is a much-needed trip down memory lane!

The Magical Christmas Santa Show

This brand-new Christmas show lands in Cambridge on December 8 in the Corpus Playroom is presented by KD Theatre Group. Get ready for a delightful mix of sing-along festive hits for all the family to enjoy, and stunning magical tricks that will have you gasping and clapping in equal measure!

The kids are simply going to love the star of the show, ‘Sammy Magic Magic’, a children’s entertainer and magician AKA Santa. When the fun and games have drawn to a close, children will have the opportunity to meet Santa and take home a Christmas present.

 

Festive Tracks and Fizz

Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences

For Christmas with a difference, head over to Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences and spend some of your festive free time with the dinosaurs!

Organisers have prepared a treat for December 6, in the form of performers and eye-catching lighting from We Are Sound, who will provide their own unique take on this special time of year. The musical collective, who come from Cambridge, rework classic hits and cult favourites through the use of no less than 130 vocalists and instrumentalists!

This gig marks the beginning of a new era for We Are Sound, who are lining up a series of events aimed at taking the unusual, creative and quirky on stage and mixing art forms.

Christmas Carol Concert

How is this for a fine combination – Christmas carols to get you into the festive mood, and proceeds from the event going to not one, but two worthy causes!

Visitors are in for a treat, with performances from choirs from Barton CofE Primary School, St Alban’s Catholic Primary School, St Faith’s, St Mary’s Junior School, The Leys School, Vox Pop, and Whitehall School all on the bill.
