Sheffield is home to two major universities, so it is no surprise that there are so many great nightlife options in Sheffield, from some of the best clubs, vibrant bars, and some great live music to choose from. The student union options are great too. What can you expect from a student night out in Sheffield?
The Leadmill
Since first opening its doors in the 1980s, The Leadmill has become an institution for up-and-coming live music in the city and is one of those staple legendary music venues in the whole of the UK that touring bands know and love.
In fact, it is the longest running live music and nightclub in Sheffield. You’ll find regular gig listings for touring bands from around the world as well as the latest local bands and solo artists from all types of music genre.
Alongside that though there are regular club nights, and some student-specific club nights that make The Leadmill one of the best student nightclubs in Sheffield for those of you who love indie music, rock, pop, soul, disco, and more.
They even have some nights that are specific to artists, so you can celebrate Taylor Swift or Harry Styles throughout the night!

Corporation
The ‘Corp’ as it is affectionately known by Sheffield students, is one of those places that brings together students and locals and really cements your place as an honorary Sheffielder!
Some of the best nights out in Sheffield are at the Corporation, it’s a legendary spot for a student night out.
It’s a massive space too, spread out over three floors, with six bars and four different rooms playing different styles of music.
Whatever it is that you and your mates love to dance to on a night out, you’ll find it at the Corp, whether it’s Hip Hope, Grime, Dance, Indie, or Pop! Drop Fridays and Dirty Deeds on Saturday’s are two of the biggest nights out in the city, and the student-specific Monday Corp is where you can ‘pay what you want’.
One of the things you’ll have to try when you’re at the Corp is the infamous blue pint, a rite of passage for many new students in the city. For nightclubs in Sheffield the Corporation is an affordable and fun one.

Tank
If you’re into house music, tech and drum and bass, Tank is the underground venue for you. There are regular club nights at Tank, with resident DJs every week and some world-class DJs and events taking place throughout the year.
There are some student nights to keep an eye out for, with discounted tickets and lower drinks prices, and the biggest event of the year is the Bassfest. This takes place every summer at Tank, with a full weekend of bass-filled music, the best line-ups of DJs and just a really good vibe and fun times to be had!

Onyx
For those long weekend nights, Onyx is one of the best nightclubs in Sheffield. Open every Thursday through to Saturday, this is one of the best places to spend your weekends as a student in the Steel City of Sheffield.
Forget the gritty, underground clubs, Onyx is about the modern and the future. State-of-the-art lighting, 3D screens and the latest house music, Hip Hop, and RnB transport you into the futuristic headspace for a fun weekend.
There are great events throughout the year, including for Freshers’ week at the beginning of the academic year, Halloween, NYE, and every bank holiday throughout the year. Any excuse to have a party really!

The Viper Rooms
Are you looking for something a little bit more sophisticated from the Sheffield nightclub scene? The Viper Rooms offers that level of elegance, as a luxury cocktail bar that transforms into a stunning nightclub as the night wears on.
There are loads of events here, from cocktail masterclasses to epic club nights. For big groups and high rollers there are great VIP packages, or you can just slip into the crowd and become part of the incredible atmosphere.
