Who Are UNPACKED?
It’s not often that you experience excitement and panic at the same time, but the day you move to university is one of those moments. You may be moving to a new city or country and figuring out how to sustain yourself alone for the first time. It is a lot. If you’ve ever stood in the middle of an aisle with a budget and no idea what to buy, then you already know why UNPACKED exist. Today, though, we’re meeting our partners properly and helping you get the supplies you need for your university journey.

A Family Business With a Simple Idea
UNPACKED is a family-run company based in Lincoln, and they have been helping students move into student accommodation since 2013. Previously, they traded as My Student Essentials, which tells you all you need to know about their aims from the beginning. They rebranded to UNPACKED in 2021, and the name stuck.
The idea is simple in the sense that with UNPACKED, you simply need to arrive, unpack, and have everything ready to go. Instead of you arriving at your new home with a car boot full of dozens of boxes, you get all of your key supplies in one package. You
Designed For Students
UNPACKED’s kitchen and bedroom packs are designed by students for students. That is not just a strapline. It reflects the thinking behind every product in the range. The team have put time into working out what students actually use, rather than bundling in items that look good on a product page and never leave the cupboard.
The core range covers the things students reach for on day one: kitchen essentials, bedding, bathroom items, cleaning supplies, and the kind of everyday homeware that makes a hall’s room feel like somewhere you actually want to be. Everything from their bouncy pillows and comfy duvet sets to induction pans that work on accommodation cookers contributes to a quality service that gives students more time for the important things: meeting new people, getting to grips with their course, and exploring the new city they live in.
The kitchen pack deserves a particular mention. Cooking in halls is one of those experiences that divides opinion, mostly because students who arrive without the right equipment tend to live on toast for longer than anyone would like. UNPACKED takes care of that from the off.
More Than Just a Box
What sets UNPACKED apart from simply adding things to an online basket and hoping for the best is the service wrapped around the product. Their elite team tracks every single package and offers superb customer support. You can also schedule your delivery to arrive at your student halls on the day you move in, which means your essentials are waiting for you rather than the other way around.
UNPACKED delivers to all postcodes in England, Wales and Scotland, and to date, they have sent packages to students arriving from 23 different countries. International students, in particular, know how difficult it is to bring everything they need when they are travelling from abroad. UNPACKED removes that problem entirely.
Students can speak directly to a real member of the team whenever they need to. Moving to university can feel isolating in those first few days, and knowing there is a human being at the end of a chat window who can sort out your delivery or answer a question about your order makes a difference.
Why We’ve Partnered with UNPACKED
At Prestige Student Living, we think a lot about what it means to arrive somewhere new and feel at home quickly. Our properties across the UK are designed to give students a good start, but we know that a well-equipped room is part of that too. The moment you walk into your new home and realise you cannot make a cup of tea because you forgot to pack a mug is not the start anyone wants.
That is why we have partnered with UNPACKED. They share the view that settling in should be about the experience, not the logistics. Students who arrive prepared spend less time worrying and more time getting on with the best part of university life.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing more about what UNPACKED offers, how to order, and what to expect when your pack arrives. Consider this your introduction.
