Where you live shapes how you live, and at The Keel Houses on Lower Gilmore Place, that means student accommodation in Edinburgh built around the calm of the Union Canal on one side and the energy of the city on the other.
The community here has grown with the recent opening of a new development alongside the original building, bringing additional studios and a wider range of social spaces to a residence that's home to students from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, Heriot-Watt University, and the Edinburgh College of Art.
Each studio apartment is fully furnished and includes its own bathroom, kitchen, and study area. Many rooms overlook the canal or Edinburgh Castle. Wi-Fi and all bills are included as standard, so the everyday essentials are already taken care of.
Across both the original building and the new development, residents have access to an expanded range of on-site amenities:
- On-site gym facilities and two cinema lounges, split across the original building and the new development.
- Multiple communal lounges and a communal kitchen, including two new common rooms in the new development.
- Two private courtyards, useful spots to read, socialise, or take a break between study sessions.
- Private dining room, suited to dinners or marking occasions with friends.
- Games amenities including table tennis and Mahjong.
- Dedicated study spaces and a meeting room, useful for revision and group work.
- A new library, part of the recent expansion, alongside existing study areas.
- Extensive bike storage.
- Onsite maintenance, CCTV, and solar panels, supporting a well-run and sustainable building.
- Coffee machine and air conditioning⁴ available throughout.
- All utility bills included, along with contents insurance†, as standard.
A five-minute walk brings you to Home Street, home to a range of shops and restaurants covering a wide variety of cuisines. Around 10 minutes away are The Meadows, an open green space with a pop-up café and the local library nearby.
Also within walking distance are The Blackbird, Harajuku Kitchen, and The Golf Tavern, along with the historic King's Theatre and Escape Reality, which offers team-based games for those after something a bit different.
Further along, Lothian Road leads towards the Castle, passing restaurants, shops, and entertainment areas. Throughout the year, the canal also hosts local events, including a festival and a charity boat race.
Haymarket Station is just 10 minutes on foot, connecting you to the city and beyond, while Edinburgh Airport is a short journey by car, making The Keel Houses the ideal choice for international students.
Modern, connected, and community-focused, The Keel Houses is ready when you are. Secure your space today and experience student living reimagined.
