Our affordable student accommodation in Lancaster has been designed with the thoughts and needs of modern-day students in mind. We provide comfortable, functional, spacious student apartments with a contemporary design, on-site gym, cinema room and more communal areas. Every studio or shared house is designed to high specifications, providing a comfortable bedroom, en suite bathrooms, plenty of storage solutions, and a study space. We have a dedicated student on-site team who works tirelessly to provide a hassle-free university experience unlike any other. They're here to assist throughout the year, put on weekly social events to create a community amongst residents and are even friendly faces for you to chat to. When it comes to our properties, we aim to provide locations that are central or within easy travelling distance of all amenities and university life. You’ll be close to both Lancaster University and the University of Cumbria when living at our luxury student houses in Lancaster, and even have the luxury of being within commuting distance to the train station.

Lancaster University
Lancaster University is one of the few universities in the country that has a collegiate system in place. There are nine colleges in total here. You’ll find that some of the colleges are more well known for being sporty, whilst others are studious, and some colleges the party colleges. This type of collegiate system definitely makes it much easier to make friends initially when living away from home for the first time.
LU is consistently ranked in the top ten universities in the UK, and is well regarded for its research and teaching provisions, and world-class facilities. The library is open 24-hours per day, and there are over 230 clubs and societies to join though the Students’ Union. Lancaster University is definitely a place that aspires to providing a strong platform for students to learn and to enjoy exploring how to become the best person they can be.
The University of Cumbria
The University of Cumbria is located on various campuses in different locations. The largest of those can be found in Lancaster. It was founded in 2007, with other campuses found in London, Carlisle, the Lake District, Workington, and Barrow. Prior to 2007 it was in various forms of colleges with a proud history dating back 150-years. The campus in Lancaster is set in a truly beautiful part of the city, in Williamson Park, with plenty of green fields and parkland for company, just a short walk from the city centre.

Lancaster has a lot going for it, considering it is quite small in size and stature when compared to other university cities. One of the best things about our choice of location for our luxury Lancaster student apartments is that it leaves you a really short distance away from some of the finest food choices around. There is always plenty to see and do in Lancaster, and you want to be sure that you are well fed and ready for a hard day of study ahead, or ready for a night out in town. We have looked at a few of the options that could send your taste buds wild in anticipation.
Big Brand Names
We all like the comfort and speed of fast food at times, or a chain restaurant that we have been going to with our family since we were kids. In Lancaster, you will find a whole host of food chains and restaurants that you know and love, helping you to settle into your new home. There are the golden arches of McDonald’s, KFC, a GO Burrito, Costa, as well as a Bella Italia for your pizza and pasta fix.
Koko (Common Garden St)
If you are looking for something a little bit different without breaking the bank, Koko is the perfect place to start. Close to your luxury student apartment in Lancaster, this Common Garden Street restaurant offers fusion Hawaiian and Japanese cuisine for a good price. Expect to choose from a large and exciting menu that is filling and relatively healthy. The poke bowl is incredible, where you create your own meal by adding rice, fish, sauces and any vegetable you like. You can even get takeaway.
Nami Sushi (China St)
Nami Sushi is a great place to try sushi for the first time, or to get your fix if you are already a big fan. The unpretentious surroundings make it an easy place to fall in love with, sitting next to the sushi conveyor belt and spending an hour or two with friends, sharing and talking, or picking up a quick bite to eat after a hard day of study at university.
Wallings (Alexandra Square)
During the warmer spring and summer months, when exams are gearing up, and the stress might be starting to get to you, there is few better things in life than treating yourself to a delicious ice cream. Wallings is one of the most beloved ice cream producers in the area, and they have a stall on Alexandra Square when the weather gets warmer, providing you with the perfect excuse to take a break from your work for a bit!
The Merchants 1688
You should never leave The Merchants 1688 off any list of Lancaster. Whether you are visiting for one day or living here, it is a glorious place to go for food. This would be a brilliant place to take your parents when they are visiting, or if you are trying to impress someone. Set in the 300-year-old cellars of a former wine merchant and just a minute’s stroll from Lancaster Castle gates, the main entrance leads you into an inviting underground restaurant of tunnels and cellars, serving locally sourced, seasonally prepared British cuisine to a high standard.
Remember to always keep an eye out for student deals, two-for-one promotions and other discounts throughout the city. As a student in Lancaster, you will be pleased to know there are plenty of chains and pubs serving up great food at a reasonable, student-friendly price. Nights Out
Picture getting ready for a big night out at our luxury Lancaster student accommodation. How amazing is that? Even better, you will be able to get home at the end of the night with relative ease and safely, which is one of the big positive differences when comparing a small university city such as Lancaster with the biggest university cities, including Manchester and Liverpool. Expect an exciting night out here with some of the top clubs and bars available!
Students’ Union
With the college system at Lancaster University you can enjoy a cheap and cheerful night out on campus, with a selection of college bars to choose from and the Students’ Union where there is a host of societies and events to take part in. Depending on which bar you choose to drink in, you will find a completely different theme and atmosphere, with different promotions and drinks discounts depending on when and where you are.
Sugarhouse
The biggest student night out in Lancaster can be found on a Wednesday night at Sugarhouse. It is a club night run by the Students’ Union of Lancaster University and regularly hosts famous DJs and touring bands. Expect great music, good student entry prices and brilliant drinks promotions. Other nights of the week there are different themes at Sugarhouse, and it has become a staple of student life in Lancaster since it opened in 1982.
LA1
The other big student club in Lancaster is LA1 in Dalton Square. This two-floor venue offers two distinct experiences under one roof, with house music downstairs and R&B upstairs. It hosts a lively programme of college nights and events throughout the year, making it a popular destination for students looking for a great night out in the city centre.
Pub Crawl
Lancaster is one of those small cities that is vibrant in terms of old-fashioned pubs, and is the perfect place to easily take on a pub crawl with your new university friends. There are loads of great pubs in town, from The Sun to The Tap House, and on to Merchants 1688. Falling into The Crafty Scholar or the Study Room after this would not be too bad a shout either!
Stay Fit And Healthy
It is always handy to know what sport is like in a new town, and when you unpack your sportswear or sports equipment at your new luxury Lancaster student apartment, you will want to know what there is out there for you to get your blood flowing and to compete!
Lancaster University Sports Centre
Top-notch sporting facilities are not always the norm at universities, but at the Lancaster University Sports Centre you can take advantage of an excellent £20 million facility. It includes a 25 metre swimming pool, a climbing wall, sports halls, as well as a gym, sauna and steam rooms.
Students’ Union Sport
Within the university there is also access to a wide range of sports facilities, including tennis courts, football and rugby pitches (both all-weather and standard grass), netball courts and even a crown bowling green. There are 60 sports clubs and teams across the university, including Korfball and American Football. There is also an annual Roses tournament against the University of York that features competitive fixtures in more than 50 sports, making it the largest inter-university sporting tournament in Europe.
Lake District and Outdoor Sport
Lancaster is in a glorious location in the North West of England. With the coast to the west and the Lake District close by, it provides the perfect starting spot to explore the region if you are interested in hiking, walking trails, cycling routes, climbing, canoeing, paragliding and much more. For anyone who loves the outdoors, your luxury student accommodation in Lancaster is the perfect base.
Football in the North West
If you are a lover of football then Lancaster City play in the Northern Premier League, but just a short ride away Morecambe play in the National League. The best thing about being in the North West of England is that you are within one to two hours of countless professional and historic football clubs, including the Manchester and Liverpool clubs, Blackpool, Preston, Burnley and Blackburn, to name just a few.
Rugby League in the North West and Yorkshire
The same can be said of Rugby League, which has its roots in the hotbeds of the North West of England and Yorkshire. Within one to two hours you could be watching some historic rugby league clubs, such as Wigan, St Helens, Warrington, Salford and Leeds.

Where To Shop
Shopping should always be looked at as an important part of growing up. They take place at the University of Cumbria or at Lancaster Town Hall, and you pay only for the weight of the clothing you choose.
Assembly Rooms Emporium
Another great example of vintage clothing in Lancaster is the Assembly Rooms Emporium, with stalls selling vintage and alternative clothing inside a gorgeous Grade II listed building that dates from 1759. Stare in wonder at the architecture of the building as you stroll around, looking for the perfect new threads, as you create your new student style.
Charity Shops
There are plenty of charity shops throughout Lancaster, and this is a fantastic way to find some great clothing at a reasonable price. You will find that there is a lot of really well-made and well-looked-after vintage clothing that could cost a lot of money elsewhere. It is always worth delving deeper into the charity shop scene in a small city like Lancaster, and you might be surprised by what you find.
Charter Market
This exciting street market takes place in the very heart of the city centre every Wednesday and Saturday. With all of the traditional, iconic historic buildings and cobbled streets around you, wander through the stalls and buy everything from jewellery and crafts, to records, books, vintage clothing and plenty of incredibly delicious food from local producers.
Marketgate
Away from the vintage clothing angle, Marketgate is close to your luxury Lancaster student accommodation and is home to plenty of big brand names and high street stores. Expect to find all of the books you could ever desire in Waterstones, all the clothing you will ever need in Primark and New Look, and plenty of other favourites.
Events And Attractions
Lancaster is a thriving and historic city that has plenty to offer tourists and locals alike. As you get to know your new home, while living in a luxury student apartment in Lancaster, you will want to know what is on offer in terms of events and attractions. There is something for everyone, including some big events that happen annually (such as the Bowland Foodie Foray, where local food and produce are celebrated in the Forest of Bowland).

Campus Sports and Clubs
Joining clubs and societies through your Students’ Union does not just mean joining a sports team; there is so much more than that available to you. On campus, you will find activities such as a cinema, small sports clubs such as darts or Ultimate Frisbee, comedy nights, pub quizzes and other types of competitions that run throughout the semester.
Highest Point Festival
Held in Williamson Park each May, this popular festival has featured artists such as Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Tom Odell and Busted over the years, alongside a huge range of other acts across multiple stages. Please check the festival website or Skiddle for the most up-to-date information on whether and when it will next be taking place.
Lancaster Maritime Museum
Lancaster has a glorious maritime history and has been an important part of the story of this country. Lancaster Maritime Museum is located on St George’s Quay and is home to a wonderful array of interactive exhibitions that outline the long and storied history of the Lune Estuary and of Morecambe Bay.
Lancaster Castle
The castle stands on the site of a Roman fort and has origins dating back almost 1,000 years. It has been used as a centre for justice, incarceration and penal reform throughout that time in various forms, and is rightly regarded as one of the most significant monuments in British history. You can take guided tours of Lancaster Castle that really bring the stories of its history alive.
Come and Play
An interesting idea, Come and Play is an event where the Haffner Orchestra, Lancaster’s symphony orchestra comprising amateur and professional musicians from across the North West, invites people of all ages to come along and join an orchestra for an afternoon. You will learn how to play with a conductor and take part in masterclasses and workshops alongside the professional musicians.
