Loughborough University is a well-renowned public research university, situated in the beautiful market town of Loughborough in the East Midlands. The campus is on a sprawling 440-acre single site, which makes it one of the most unique and beautiful places that you can study anywhere in the UK. This, and many other factors, have led to Loughborough University consistently being regarded by students as having one of the best student experiences around. 

History

The campus and grounds have an extensive history, and the picturesque gardens require a team of 29 Grounds and Garden staff to maintain the outdoor spaces. The campus is actually the size of 7,040 tennis courts (if you can imagine what that would look like!).

Salims

If you’re looking to visit an authentic, Indian restaurant, then Salims is the place you need to go! All ingredients used are locally sourced and always freshly cooked with a touch of modern and traditional style. They have over 20 years experience in cooking, so you know with a trip here you’re guaranteed a tasty meal. From classic Indian favourites, to specialities including the tandoori garlic chicken, Salims have dishes which will make your mouth water from just thinking about them!

Goodliffes Bar

Visit Goodliffes Bar if you want casual dining in a relaxed environment! It’s a fantastic place to bring all your uni pals and enjoy a delicious meal out. It’s situated in Loughborough’s stylish Churchgate and serves breakfast, lunch and evening menus, depending on what you fancy. Firm favourites from the menu include the South Korean BBQ glazed salmon and the baked pork fillet. They even have a beautiful desert menu which includes a salted caramel cheesecake and warm chocolate and biscoff brownie…who wouldn’t want that?!

Fernandez Grillhouse

Expect burgers oozing with cheese and burritos which have been stuffed with filling and wrapped to perfection. Definitely one for all the meat eaters out there, but don’t worry if you’re a veggie, ‘cos you can swap out the meat for a 100% plant based patty. So, if you have a uni pal who’s a veggie, make sure you don’t leave them out with a trip to Fernandez Grillhouse!

Loughborough Students’ Union is statistically one of the biggest and best SUs in the UK and it hosts various nights out every week. If you’re worried about it not being your music taste – don’t worry! They play a range of genres all the time to suit every type of student.

Being a student, you’ll already have probably heard of Revolution, or, shall we say – Revs? It’s the place to be and always has a buzzing atmosphere, especially on the weekends. In Loughborough, you’re bound to have a memorable night out here. With lots of cocktails and draught on offer, you don’t want to miss it!

Echoes offers two rooms with different music genres for you to enjoy. The front room plays a mixture of cheesy, pop songs that every single person knows, whereas the back room features some house/tech tunes you’ll defo be two-stepping to.

So, as you can imagine, the facilities offered on campus here are simply unbelievable and beyond your wildest expectations! As a Loughborough student you can access everything from high performance training venues to free recreational areas. They even have an on-site gym with top of the range equipment for you to use.

Beacon Hill Country Park

Boasting spectacular scenic views over Loughborough, Beacon Hill Country Park is definitely a place you’ll want to visit. It’s a little drive out of town but it’s so worth it – we promise! It’s perfect for taking a picnic and relaxing in the sun, or heading on a hike with your pals!

Shopping

On the doorstep of our student accommodation in Loughborough is the town’s popular shopping area. It may only be small, but it sure is mighty! It features a range of clothing stores such as New Look, Next, JD and Primark, so if you’re ever short of anything to wear you have it all there!

Festivals

Loughborough neighbours with the popular city of Nottingham, a hub of lively activity and events. One of the main events which takes place there is called Detonate. Detonate is a widely known DNB, Tech and House festival located in Colwick Country Park. Most students from Loughborough will travel up to experience this event and, what makes it even better is it’s only a short trip home afterwards too! Meaning you don’t have to fork out lots of money for a hotel or AirBNB…what’s not to love?
